NFL Record Recently Broken: All-Time Touchdown Record

The Broncos played a lighthearted game of keep-away before Manning was able to actually break the record, but hey – what’s the point of breaking records if you can’t have some fun in the process? Broken by Peyton Manning in just 246 games with his 509th touchdown on Oct 19th, 2014 against the San Franscisco 49ers, this record was previously held by Brett Favre, who set the record in 302 games.

NFL Record Still to be Broken: Most Career-Winning Drives

With Miami Dolphin’s Dan Marino holding this record since 1999, Peyton Manning has tied him at 51 while entering the 2014 season. Both players can boast reaching this number in the same amount of years in the NFL. It’s simply a waiting game on this one–which magical Broncos game will be the one that tips the scales?

NBA Record Recently Broken: Most Three Pointers in a Gamer

You guys! WHAT. A. GAME. Two franchise records + 1 playoff game = Hawks vs Pacers in April 2014. With the Pacer’s 14 3-pointers only surpassed by the Hawk’s 15 3-pointers, it’s going to be a while before fans find this kind of record breaking excitement all wrapped up in a single game again.

NBA Record Still to be Broken: Most Wins for an NBA Trio

This record is currently held by the undisputedly golden Celtic’s trio of Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish at 540 wins – but that doesn’t mean they’ll hold that title forever. With the Spurs’ trio of Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan inching ahead of the equally legendary Lakers’ trio of Adbul-Jabar, Johnson and Cooper last year, it leaves the Spurs about 40 victories away from calling this record their own in 2014. Will the Spurs have a hot year, or leave the Celtic’s record intact?

NHL Record Recently Broken: Most Consecutive Point-Scoring Games

Let’s be real – it ain’t easy to overturn a record set by Wayne Gretsky, but Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche has managed to do it. Most consecutive point-scoring games was broken by Nathan MacKinnon on March 6th, 2014, in his 13th consecutive game. While this record was previously held by Gretsky at 12 games, the impressiveness of this new record-setting player continues when you realize that MacKinnon did this before even turning 20.

NHL Record Still to be Broken: Really, there’s no point choosing just one here – Gretsky takes all!

We’re talking about a guy who set a record of Most Points in a Season with 212, set in 81-82, only to break that record with 215 points 3 seasons later. Like we said – Gretsky. Takes. All. Some of our favorite, most impressive and unreachable standing include: Most consecutive 40-goal seasons @ 12, Most consecutive 100-point seasons @ 15, Most playoff games with 3 or more goals scored @ 10, Most consecutive MVP awards @ 8, and Most career regular season goals @ 894 (famously breaking the previous record with 802 goals in 1994).
